Big discounts on Grace Canvas Bags

I am busy sorting out the bags for the up and coming shows and I have stumbled on a problem…!!!

In the packing and shipping process the Grace canvas bags have been slightly marked on the inside, this has been caused by the paint that is used to ink in the handles where the fabric has been cut (an extra cost in the production process) and probably from the humidity of the container it has left a small mark on the inside fabric. Have a look at the tiny mark, it’s on the right of the inside pocket.

Now I pride myself on quality so I can’t sell these bags at full cost. So I am offering big discounts on the bags on the website.

If you use the code Grace Red or Grace Tan you will be able to buy the bag for £19.99, the bag is in perfect condition apart from the small mark on the inside.

I have 50 Red canvas and 50 Tan canvas to sell at the discounted price.

The Grace comes with a small black insert bag and has the usual Mia Tui features, Water Bottle Holder, Key Clips, Phone and Pen pockets.

You can have a read on a few reviews on the Grace bag

It’s Show Time

It is nearly time to take the Mia Tui bags out on the road.. and find out what the consumer and retailer thinks of my bags.

How does this make me feel..? “Bloody Sick” I can tell you, you have put everything into making the bags and I know I am emotionally attached to them, so any form of criticism never feels nice.

But I have to let go of the apron strings and see if they (the bags) can stand on their own two feet and sell..

Those of you who have followed my blog know that I try to be completely transparent in everything I do with Mia Tui, I really want to make fantastic bags that are affordable and well made. I know I have and will make mistakes along the way, but I’m a new company and just starting out, but I will listen to what people have to say and take it on board.

I managed to win a stand at the Mumpreneur Expo via Mums Club check out http://www.mumsclub.co.uk/live/ it is in Solihull, Cranmore Park Solihull – from 11AM TO 5PM.  If you are thinking of starting your own business or want to get some advice I think it will be worth the time, bring the family as well.

I will be in “Mumpreneur Alley” with all the other Mums who have their own business, so come along and say hi, I have discounted all the bags for this expo. I do have to say a big thank you to Feitsy Tapas, as it was M of Feisty Tapas who told me to enter the competition…

Sunday sees me in Aylesbury for the Bump & Beyond exhibition at the Friars Square Shopping Centre, so I’m are getting around this weekend.

I then get a week off before I head down to EarlsCourt for The Baby Show for Trade, just writing this makes my tummy turn over with nerves..

1. I am through to the final of the “Rattle to Riches” a dragon dens style competition where I have 3 mins to pitch Mia Tui bags to major retailers in the UK, John Lewis, Argos, Tesocs, Asda, Boots, Mothercare, Jo Jo Mama, Babybase to name a few…!!

2. I will really gauge the reaction to the bags as this is the big trade fair for all the buyers in the UK, so if they don’t like the bags.. Well lets not go there just yet.. as I don’t want to think about that.. They will love them I am sure (just a little bit nervous)

3. I have never done any type of trade show before so really do not know what to expect, so I just hope I am prepared and have got everything organised.

Nerves and butterfly’s are all good, but as someone said to me once.. “Just make sure that the butterfly’s all fly in one direction”

The next show is the Baby Show in Earls Court 28th-30th October, this is a massive consumer show where mums can come and buy what they need for their babies and see if there is anything new to the market.

So as you can see I have a busy few weeks, this is what I need, I need to know what people think of Mia Tui and if  I have got it right.

The principles of Mia Tui are that we make bags for busy mums that are Functional, Stylish, Affordable and Well Made.

If you are around for any of these shows please do come by and say hello to me, god knows I will want to see a friendly face.!

Re-adjustment

We have been back now for 2 months and I thought everyone was settling in well, girls had gone to school and seemed happy..

Then yesterday I see that Mia has not really made any friends at school, and is hanging out with her sister, which is nice, but they need to find their own friends.

They have come into a small school where friendships have been formed, luckily for Amelie she has made a lovely friend, who’s friends had left the school last year, but Mia only has 3 other girls her age in the class and they don’t seem to want to include her..

What do you do as a parent..? I want to invite the girls over to play to try an encourage friendship, but then I think I should just leave alone and things will sort themselves out. It is not like Mia is unhappy at school.

Amelie called me to her bed for a “chat” last night god love her she was so upset.. “Mummy I have something sad to tell you, Hannah is not from England” with this she broke down in tears.. I said “is she from Scotland?” Amelie “yes and she will leave”  She has only known living the life of an ex-pat and she believes people will leave if it is not their home country. She had no idea where Scotland was, so I had to assure her that Hannah was not going to leave.. I will be checking with her mum at pick-up.!

I had managed to get the girls into Beavers and we went to the 1st meeting last night, I had offered volunteer so I could stay, but they both ended up crying and not wanting to go into the room.

Then today we have had more tears from Amelie (Mmm maybe a bit of a drama queen) saying that the schools in England are too hard and she wants to go back to Vietnam and her old school. That her leg husts so she can’t do PE.. what did I do, kiss her goodbye and packed them off with their Dad to do the drop off.

It is difficult to know what your children are feeling when you re-pratriate,  England is my home and I have settled back very qucikly, but they have never lived in England and it is all new. The only thing I can do is be there for them to make them feel secure and let them talk about their concerns, but all I really want to do is make it all better, I really wanted to keep Amelie off from school today as she was so up-set, but knew that is not the best course of action in the long run.

It’s shit when you think your kids are un-happy, both Philippe and I feel crap today, but I know when I go and pick them up in a couple of hours they will probably come bouding out of school happy and telling me they had a great day.. Kids..!

The Finger

If you follow my blog you will know that I fell down the stairs and dislocated my finger.. and for those of you who don’t follow – Hello, and I am just back from Vietnam and not used to wearing socks on carpet and slipped down the stairs..!

I sang the praises of the NHS, I was in X-rayed and out within half an hour.. what I did not tell you was that I wasn’t actually seen by a doctor but a nurse who reviewed the x-ray, said “oh you have a bit of extra bone – but some people just do.!” and sent me on
my way

I was told it could take 6 weeks to get better, anyway it bloody hurts but I have not complained, it just feels loose inside, I was going to give it a few more weeks before I went to the doctors..

At the weekend I got a letter from the hospital saying that they have reviewed my X-ray and there is a probably abnormality.. no kidding have a look at my finger.

So I am back from the hospital and yes it is broken and I have a dressing and a plastic thing on my finger to try to bring the bones together, now he tells me I can’t take the dressing off, and I may become a little anti-social, does he really thinks I am not going to take it off to wash..!

So if it was not for the NHS targets on waiting times I may not have had to wait two weeks to get the finger sorted..!!

The week that was

It was a big week in my house

Finally the girls got to go to school and start to make some friends and get out of my hair..! I love them dearly but having them around for the past 3 months whilst trying to leave Vietnam and set up home here has to say the least a bit stressful..!

So to my dear Amelie and Mia.. I am sorry that I have been the mother from hell, I know I have moaned all the time, and not been a very fun Mummy. The summer holidays have not really been the action packed event ithey should have been. We will try to come up with some of the highlights for your homework this weekend, and no Mia we will not be putting “we watched a lot of  TV ”

What were the highlights.. Gulliver’s World, Sleep over with Nanny, London and the butterfly exhibition, Some big Park(can’t remember the name) Mia’s birthday party, moving into our new house and your new swing set.. I think there is enough here to put down in your homework book.

The girls 1st day at school was Wednesday, they were so excited to be starting and woke up at 4.30am, anyway they went in to their classroom looking a little nervous but not crying..! Lucky for them they are in the same class this year so they didn’t feel all alone. Anyway they had a great day, made some friends and fell asleep in the car at 4pm.!

Wednesday was my big day as well, I have got through to the heats of a competition called “Rattle to Riches” it is a dragon styled competition where you get to pitch your product or idea to a panel of buyers. The final is in October and run within the Baby Show for Trade exhibition in Earls Court. If you get through to the final you are then able to pitch your product on a big stage to major UK retailers. This is such a big opportunity for any new company because as you know it is very difficult if near impossible to get in front of these key buyers.

Well I did it, and have got through to the final, they seemed to really love the bags, I had turned the Amelie bag inside out to demonstrate the inside of the bag,  one of the people on the panel kept asking how much is the blue bag..!? I said “there is no blue bag”, “no that one” she said pointing to my inside out bag..! The inside of my bags are that nice people think you can wear it on the outside..!

Big thank you to all of you who helped me with feed back on why you love your Mia Tui bags, it was a great help.
